New Initiative to Invest in Teacher-led Strategies for Student Success

In December, we partnered with the Los Angeles County Office of Education to launch the Teachers of the Year Equitable Innovation Grant program, available to all educators in LA County.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed nearly everything about our daily lives – and for educators and students it has completely redefined teaching and learning. This effort will invest in dynamic teacher leaders, develop new strategies to help students, and spotlight best practices to share with other educators. Teachers have unique insight into the needs of their students and teacher-led solutions will be paramount in our regional recovery.

We are investing an initial $50,000 in new projects, developed by teachers for their students with the greatest needs. All educators are eligible. That means teachers, but also counselors, administrators, club leaders and others. Educators from all subject areas, serving all grades are encouraged to apply. Successful projects will leverage new tools to address issues like learning loss and trauma, build community, generate new partnerships, or provide training or professional development.

Individuals can apply for up to $1,500. Teams of up to three educators can apply for a total of $4,500. Applications are due on January 15th. Applicants will be notified by February 8th of funding decisions. Click here for more information on how to apply.
